My big loom

/ / / /

This is my big tapestry loom. It was a gift from my mother in law (she did tapestry few years ago, and  the loom was useless). For now it is in my studio (as you can see) with sewing machines and more stuff. Even if it will be in a special room just for it soon, I wanted to show it

Normaly the threads are separated with nails, but I think is also a good idea to use a tape measure to warp it correctly. You just have to follow how many threads / cm.

IMG_20140903_090353This is an example* woven in that loom. I work by behind, (it’s easier to pick up an to leave threads) obtaining a cleaner front, at the beging is hard to see the mirror in front, because you have all the warp between. But eyes are wise and soon you get used.

*soon I will make a post about this project, inspiration an results.

b3And this is the project that I’m doing right now. As you can see I’m working in a monochromatic effect, to give importance to the texture. It is inspired by a Turner’s watercolour. I wish to finish it this month.

Happy thursday everybody!

New collection -almost- ready

The latest collection has taken a while to get, like the cold in Barcelona. But it is almost ready, so I will slowly rise to the online store new products. Hope you like them.

Espero que us agradin.

Fuzzy weather

Time is going very fast and meanwhile we can see Christmas the horizon, in Barcelona  we still in shorts.
The first image is an exercise in texture I made , and the next two are a preview of the new collection I’m working on.

El temps està passant molt ràpid i mentre podem veure Nadal a l’hortizó, aquí a Barcelona encara portem pantalons curts.

Weave to sew

For two weeks the loom has been occupied for this long piece. 9 meters of squares and spontaneous lines, mixing black wool and greenish-pearl linen. Now that is has been washed it’s time for next steps, cut and sew.

Pink roots

As you know, wool become felting with friction and heat, producing unpredictable textures. So the process goes on, not just weaving, but worth it!

*My plant has rooted and it’s a plant, not a branch. I cut a branch of a plant with serious doubts but it worked! I imagine in the dark earth tiny roots that should come out where I cut. Magic! And speaking of spring and early, my (also tiny) online shop will be ready and running very soon!  (at last!)
